1,1-Diphenylethylene is used in the preparation of 2-chloro-1,1-diphenyl-ethene by reacting with benzeneseleninyl chloride and aluminum(III) chloride as reagents. It acts as an intermediate in organic synthesis as well as in pharmaceuticals.

Applications
Le 1,1-diphényléthylène est utilisé dans la préparation du 2-chloro-1,1-diphényl-éthène en réagissant avec le chlorure de benzène sulfonyle et le chlorure d’aluminium(III) utilisés comme réactifs. Il joue le rôle d’intermédiaire dans la synthèse organique ainsi que dans les produits pharmaceutiques.

Miscible avec du méthanol, du chloroforme et de l’éther. Insoluble dans l’eau.
