Description
1,10-Phenanthroline monohydrate is useful to study the DNA-protein interactions due to its nuclease activity. It is used as a redox indicator and reagent for spectrophotometric assay of silver. It acts as a chelating ligand for the determination of Fe, Pd and V. It also acts as a matrix metalloproteinase inhibitor. It is a photometric reagent for iron, which forms a red chelate with ferrous (iron II) ion.

Le monohydrate de 1,10-phénanthroline est utile pour étudier les interactions ADN-protéine en raison de son activité de nucléase. Il est utilisé comme indicateur redox et réactif pour le dosage par spectrophotométrie de l’argent. Il agit comme ligand chélateur pour la détermination du Fe, Pd et V. Il agit également comme inhibiteur de la métalloprotéinase matricielle. Il s’agit d’un réactif photométrique pour le fer, qui forme un chélate rouge avec un ion ferreux (fer II).
Solubilité
Soluble dans l’éthanol, l’acétone et le méthanol. Légèrement soluble dans l’eau et le benzène.
Remarques
Les solutions de travail du 1,10-phénantholine monohydrate peuvent se stabiliser pendant quelques jours à des températures réfrigérées. Incompatible avec les agents oxydants forts et les acides forts.
