1,2,3,4-Butanetetracarboxylic acid is used as a cross linking agent to prepare cotton cellulose in order to improve anti-prilling and flame retardant properties. It is used as a spacer in the cross-linking of titania nanoparticles to cotton. Further, it is used as a nonformaldehyde durable press finishing agent.

Applications
L’acide 1,2,3,4-butanetracarboxylique est utilisé comme agent de réticulation pour préparer la cellulose de coton afin d’améliorer les propriétés anti-prilling et ignifuge. Il est utilisé comme une entretoise dans la réticulation des nanoparticules de titania au coton. De plus, il est utilisé comme agent de finition de presse durable non-formaldéhyde.
