Description
1,4-Dithio-DL-threitol is used as a protective agent for preventing oxidation of thiol groups and reagent for the reduction of disulfide groups in proteins. It is employed to investigate a-ketoglutarate dehydrogenase function, flavin cofactors in proteins and protein moieties involved in peroxide reduction. It is also useful for stabilizing sulfhydryl-containing enzymes.

Le 1,4-dithio-DL-thréitol est utilisé comme agent protecteur pour empêcher l’oxydation des groupes thiols et comme réactif pour la réduction des groupes disulfures dans les protéines. Il est utilisé pour étudier la fonction alpha-cétoglutarate déshydrogénase, les cofacteurs de flavine dans les protéines et les fractions protéiques impliquées dans la réduction du peroxyde. Il est également utile pour stabiliser les enzymes contenant du sulfhydryle.
Solubilité
Soluble dans l’eau, l’éthanol, le chloroforme, l’éther diéthylique, l’acétone, l’éther et l’acétate d’éthyle.
Remarques
Sensible à l’air et à la chaleur. Hygroscopique. Incompatible avec les agents oxydants forts, les agents réducteurs et les alcalis.
