1,5-Diiodopentane is used as a crosslinking reagent. It is used in the preparation of (iodoalkylaminocarbene)tungsten complexes. It is also used as alkylation to form unsubstituted cyclohexane. It is involved in the preparation of poly(1-vinyl imidazole-co-elthylene glycol methyl ether acrylate electrolytes and used for quasi-solid state dye-sensitized solar cells.

Applications
Le 1,5-diiodopentane est utilisé comme réactif de réticulation. Il est utilisé dans la préparation de complexes de tungstène (iodoalkylaminocarbène). Il est également utilisé comme alkylation pour former du cyclohexane non substitué. Il est impliqué dans la préparation dʼélectrolytes dʼacrylate dʼéther méthylique de poly(1-vinyl imidazole-co-elthylène glycol et utilisé pour les cellules solaires semi-solides sensibilisées par colorant.
