1-Hexadecene is used as an intermediate for organic synthesis. It is utilized as a blend for off-shore drilling fluids. It is also used as a surface active agent, finishing agent, process regulator, functional fluid, lubricant and lubricant additive. Further, it acts as comonomers in polymer such as low density polyethylenes, which shows thiner, flexibility and tearing resistance.

Applications
Le 1-hexadécène est utilisé comme intermédiaire en synthèse organique. Il est utilisé comme mélange pour les fluides de forage en mer. Il est également utilisé comme agent tensioactif, agent de finition, régulateur de procédé, liquide fonctionnel, lubrifiant et additif pour lubrifiant. De plus, il agit comme un comonomère dans les polymères tels que les PEBD, pour son pouvoir fluidifiant, sa flexibilité et sa résistance au déchirement.

Solubilité
Miscible à l’éther, à l’éther de pétrole et à l’alcool. Immiscible avec l’eau.
