The primary use of nonanol is in the manufacture of artificial lemon oil. 1-Nonanol is mainly used in man-made rose essence, plasticizer, surfactant. 1-Nonanol was used as a reference material in the determination of airborne spore levels. 1-Nonanol inhibited the bacterial luciferase (BL) reaction in a dose-dependent manner.

Applications
L‘usage primaire du nonanol est dans la fabrication de l‘huile de citron artificielle. Le 1-nonanol est principalement utilisé dans l‘essence de rose artificielle, le plastifiant et le surfactant. Le 1-nonanol a été utilisé comme matériau de référence dans la détermination des niveaux de spores en suspension dans l‘air. Solubilité
Soluble dans l‘eau (1 g/l) à 20°C, l’éther, l’éthanol, l’acétone, le chloroforme et l’huile minérale.
