2,3-Dimethylmaleic anhydride acts as a reagent in the preparation of maleimides. It is also employed as an amino group protecting agent for superoxide dismutase. Further, it serves as a reactant in the dissociation of ribosomal proteins. In addition to this, it is used in the preparation of dimethylmaleic acid dimethyl ester.

Applications
L’anhydride 2,3-diméthylmaléique agit comme réactif dans la préparation des maléimides. Il est également utilisé comme agent de protection de groupes amino pour la dismutase superoxyde. De plus, il sert de réactif dans la dissociation des protéines ribosomiques. En outre, il est utilisé dans la préparation de l’ester diméthylique de l’acide diméthylmaléique.
