2,5-Bis(5-tert-butyl-2-benzoxazolyl)thiophene is used as an optical brightener which converts UV light into visible light. It is also used as a fluorescent brightener for thermoplastic resins of polyvinyl chloride, acrylic resin, polyester fiber, paint, coating and printing ink. It is also useful in detecting the presence of thin-film electrical contact lubricants.

Applications
Le 2,5-Bis(5-tert-butyle-2-benzoxazolyle)thiophène est utilisé comme un azurant optique qui convertit la lumière UV en lumière visible. Il est également utilisé comme azurant fluorescent pour les résines thermoplastiques de chlorure de polyvinyle, la résine acrylique, les fibres de polyester, la peinture, le revêtement et l’encre d’impression. Il est également utile pour détecter la présence de lubrifiants à contact électrique à couche mince.

Solubilité
Soluble dans l’acétone et le toluène. Insoluble dans l’eau.

Remarques
Incompatible avec les agents oxydants.
