2,6-Diisopropylaniline acts as an intermediate used in the production of carbodiimides stabilizers, synthetic resins, antioxidants and active pharmaceutical ingredients. It is also used in the preparation of multitopic Schiff-base ligand precursors and 4,5-bis(2,6-diisopropylanilino)-2,7-di-tert-butyl-9,9-dimethylthioxanthene. It also undergoes condensation reaction with triacetylmethane to get -[1-(2,6-diisopropylphenylamino)ethylidene]pentane-2,4-dione. Further, it is used to prepare N-heterocyclic carbene complexes for alfa-arylation of acyclic ketones, amination of haloarenes and aqueous Suzuki coupling. In addition to this, it is used in the prepartion of organocatalyst based on naphthalene diimides.

Applications
La 2,6-diisopropylaniline agit comme un intermédiaire utilisé dans la production de stabilisants carbodiimides, de résines synthétiques, d’antioxydants et d’ingrédients pharmaceutiques actifs. Elle est également utilisée dans la préparation de précurseurs de ligand à base de Schiff à plusieurs sujets et de 4,5-bis(2,6-diisopropylanilino)-2,7-di-tert-butyl-9,9-diméthylthioxanthène. Elle subit également une réaction de condensation avec le triacétylméthane pour obtenir -[1-(2,6-diisopropylphénylamino)éthylidène]pentane-2,4-dione. De plus, elle est utilisée pour préparer des complexes de carbènes N-hétérocycliques pour l’alpha-arylation des cétones acycliques, l’amination des haloarènes et le couplage de Suzuki aqueux. En outre, elle est utilisée dans la préparation de l’organocatalyseur à base de diimides de naphtalène.

Solubilité
Miscible à l’éther et l’alcool. Légèrement miscible avec de l’eau.
