2-Deoxy-D-ribose is used as a precursor to deoxyribonucleic acid. It induces apoptosis by inhibiting the synthesis and increasing the efflux of glutathione. Further, it is used in the synthesis of optically active dipyrrolyl alkanols from pyrroles on the surface of montmorillonite KSF clay.

Applications
Le composé 2-désoxy-D-ribose est utilisé comme précurseur de l’acide désoxyribonucléique. Il induit l’apoptose en inhibant la synthèse et en augmentant l’efflux du glutathion. De plus, il est utilisé dans la synthèse des alcanols optiquement actifs de la dipyrrolyle à partir de pyrroles à la surface de l’argile montmorillonite KSF.
