2-Hydroxy-5-methoxybenzaldehyde is employed to study electroantennogram response of the vine weevil (Otiorhynchus sulcatus F) to a broad range of volatile plant compounds. It plays an important role in the preparation of tetradentate Schiff base compounds. Further, it is used in the preparation 6-methoxy-3-nitro-2H-chromene by using dibutylamine as a reagent.

Applications
Le 2-hydroxy-5-méthoxybenzaldéhyde est utilisé pour étudier la réponse électroantennogramme du charançon de la vigne (Otiorhynchus sulcatus F) à une large gamme de composés végétaux volatils. Il joue un rôle important dans la préparation des composés de base de Schiff au tétradentate. De plus, il est utilisé dans la préparation de 6-méthoxy-3-nitro-2H-chromène en utilisant la dibutylamine comme réactif.
