2-Methyl-2-butanol is used as a solvent in flavors, pharmaceuticals, corrosion inhibitors, resins, gums, coating materials and in organic synthesis. It acts as a frothing agent (ore flotation), surfactant (petroleum recovery) and stabilizing agent. Further, it is used in processing aids.

Applications
Le 2-méthanol-2-butanol est utilisé comme solvant dans les saveurs, les produits pharmaceutiques, les inhibiteurs de corrosion, les résines, les gommes, les matériaux de revêtement et la synthèse organique. Il agit comme agent de congélation (flottation du minerai), surfactant (récupération du pétrole) et agent stabilisant. De plus, il est utilisé dans les procédés d’aide à la transformation.

Solubilité
Miscible à l’alcool, l’éther, au benzène, au chloroforme, au glycérol, aux huiles et à l’acétone.

Remarques
Sensible à la lumière. Incompatible avec les agents oxydants forts.
