2-Propanesulfonyl chloride is used as a pharmaceutical intermediate. Reductive cleavage of a secondary alcohol to methylene has been achieved by reduction of the 2-propanesulfonyl ester with lithium triethylborohydride.

Applications
Le chlorure de 2-propanesulfonyle sert d’intermédiaire pharmaceutique. Le clivage réducteur d’un alcool secondaire au méthylène a été obtenu par réduction de l’ester 2-propanesulfonyle avec du triéthylborohydrure de lithium.
