2-Vinylpyridine is a pyridine derivative used in the preparation of poly(2-vinylpyridine) via radical polymerization. 2-Vinylpyridine is used to improve effectiveness of protective polymer coatings on metals. It is a reagent for pyridylethylation for new protection method for active hydrogen compounds.. It is also used as basic materials for one of largest-selling plastic, manufacturing pharmaceuticals and bio-compounds.

Applications
Le 2-vinylpyridine est un dérivé de la pyridine utilisé pour la préparation du poly(2-vinylpyridine) via une polymérisation radicalaire. Le 2-vinylpyridine est utilisé pour améliorer l’efficacité des revêtements en polymère de protection sur les métaux. Il s’agit d’un réactif de pyridyléthylation pour la nouvelle méthode de protection des composés actifs de l’hydrogène. Il est également utilisé comme matière de base pour l’un des plastiques les plus vendus, pour la fabrication de produits pharmaceutiques, et pour les bio-composés.

Solubilité
Soluble dans l’eau (27 g/l). Il est légèrement soluble dans le chloroforme et le méthanol.
