Description
3,4,7,8-Tetramethyl-1,10-phenanthroline acts as a metal-chelating agent for transition metal-catalyzed processes. It is also used in the preparation of heteroleptic cationic iridium(III) complex viz. 3,4,7,8-tetramethyl-1,10-phenanthroline-bis[2-(2',4'-difluorophenyl)pyridine]iridium(III) hexafluorophosphate. Further, it is employed as a ligand and forms dinuclear copper(II) hypocrellin B complexes. In addition to this, it plays an important role in the formation of tetraaqua(3,4,7,8-tetramethyl-1,10-phenanthroline-kappa2N,N')zinc(II) thiosulfate complex.

La 3,4,7,8-tétraméthyl-1,10-phénanthroline agit comme agent chélateur de métaux pour les processus catalysés par des métaux de transition. Elle est également utilisée dans la préparation du complexe cationique hétéroleptique de l’iridium(III), à savoir l’hexafluorophosphate 3,4,7,8-tétraméthyl-1,10-phénanthroline-bis[2-(2′,4′-difluorophényl)pyridine]iridium(III). De plus, il est utilisé comme ligand et forme des complexes dinucléaires d’hypocrelline B de cuivre(II). Solubilité
Soluble dans le 1,4-dioxane, l’acétone, le dichlorométhane, le N,N-diméthylformamide, le N,N-diméthylacétamide, le méthanol et le toluène chaud.
