4-Methoxybenzaldehyde is widely utilized in the fragrance and flavor industry. It finds application as an important intermediate in the synthesis of other organic compounds, perfumes and pharmaceuticals like antihistamines. It is also used in the preparation of agrochemicals, dyes and plastic additives. A solution of para-anisaldehyde with acid and ethanol is used as stain in thin layer chromatography (TLC), which provides easy identification of different compounds.

Le 4-méthoxybenzaldéhyde est largement utilisé dans l’industrie des parfums et des arômes. Il sert d’intermédiaire important dans la synthèse d’autres composés organiques, parfums et produits pharmaceutiques comme les antihistaminiques. Il est également utilisé dans la préparation de produits agrochimiques, de colorants et d’additifs plastiques. Une solution de para-anisaldéhyde avec de l’acide et de l’éthanol est utilisée comme coloration dans la chromatographie sur couche mince (CCM), qui permet d’identifier facilement différents composés.
Solubilité
Miscible à l’acétone, à l’alcool, à l’éther, au chloroforme et au benzène. Immiscible avec l’eau.
Remarques
Sensible à l’air et à la lumière. Gardez le récipient hermétiquement fermé dans un endroit sec et bien ventilé. Incompatible avec les bases fortes, les agents oxydants forts et les agents réducteurs forts.
