Alcian Blue 8GX is widely utilized as a heteroglycan stain for acidic, neutral, sulfated and phosphate polysaccharides and glycosaminoglycans in tissues. It finds application in both light and electron microscopy. It serves as an adhesive to stick glycol methacrylate sections to glass slides. Due to its large aromatic surface, it is used as a coating agent and modifies the property on the surfaces. It acts as a gelling agent for lubricating fluids and is also used in the modification of carbon paste electrode which promotes redox behavior and stability of electrode.

Applications
Le bleu alcien 8GX est largement utilisé comme coloration hétéroglycane pour les polysaccharides acides, neutres, sulfatés et phosphates et les glycosaminoglycanes dans les tissus. Il trouve son application dans la microscopie photonique et électronique. Il sert d’adhésif pour coller les sections de méthacrylate de glycol aux lames en verre. En raison de sa grande surface aromatique, on l’utilise comme agent de revêtement dont la propriété se modifie sur les surfaces. Il agit comme agent gélifiant pour les fluides de lubrification. Il est également utilisé dans la modification de l’électrode de pâte de carbone qui favorise le comportement redox et la stabilité de l’électrode.

Solubilité
Soluble dans l’eau, l’éthanol, l’éthylène glycol et 2-éthoxyéthanol. Insoluble dans le xylène.

Remarques
Incompatible avec les agents oxydants forts.
