Citraconic anhydride is used as a monomer for specialty unsaturated polyester resins. It is used to prepare bicyclic pyrrolidines, maleimides and co- and terpolymers. It is also used for the protection of N-terminal amino acids. Further, it is involved in the preparation of clothing ping acid and its amide. In addition to this, it is selectively used for the isolation of histidyl peptides.

Applications
L’anhydride citraconique est utilisé comme monomère pour les résines polyester non saturées spécialisées. Il est utilisé pour préparer des pyrrolidines bicycliques, des maléimides et des co- et des terpolymères. Il est également utilisé pour la protection des acides aminés en N-terminal. De plus, il participe à la préparation de l’acide de Ping pour vêtements et de son amide. En outre, il est utilisé de façon sélective pour l’isolement des peptides histidyles.

Solubilité
Miscible avec l’eau, l’alcool, l’acétone et l’éther.

Remarques
Sensible à l’humidité. Incompatible avec les bases, les agents oxydants et les agents réducteurs.
