1-Phenyldodecane acts as a pseudo-stationary phase (PSP) marker in the preparation of microemulsion, 1-Phenyldodecane was degraded to phenylacetic acid by an oil-degrading bacterium. it is used to prepare an anionic detergent dodecylbenzene sodium sulfonate. It is a petrochemical-derived substitute for the tallow and coconut oil used in making soap.
