Flavin adenine dinucleotide (FAD) is used as a redox cofactor (electron carrier) by flavoproteins including succinate dehydrogenase (complex), α-ketoglutarate dehydrogenase, apoptosis-inducing factor 2 (AIF-M2, AMID), folate/FAD-dependent tRNA methyltransferases, and N-hydroxylating flavoprotein monooxygenases. FAD is a component of the pyruvate dehydrogenase complex.

Applications
La flavine adénine dinucléotide (FAD) est utilisée comme cofacteur redox (porteur dʼélectrons) par les flavoprotéines, y compris la succinate déshydrogénase (complexe), α ; -cétoglutarate déshydrogénase, le facteur dʼinduction de lʼapoptose 2 (AIF-M2, AMID), les tRNA-méthyltransférases dépendantes du folate/FAD et les monooxygénases de la N-hydroxylation des protéines. La FAD est une composante du complexe pyruvate déshydrogénase.

Solubilité
Soluble dans l’eau (50 mg/ml).
