Glutaric acid is used as the raw material for organic synthesis, pharmaceutical intermediate and synthetic resin. It serves as a precursor in the production of polyester polyols, polyamides, ester plasticizers and corrosion inhibitors. It is useful to decrease polymer elasticity and in the synthesis surfactants and metal finishing compounds. It acts as an intermediate during the catabolism of lysine in mammals.

L’acide glutarique est utilisé comme matière première pour la synthèse organique, comme intermédiaire pharmaceutique et comme résine synthétique. Il sert de précurseur dans la production de polyols de polyester, de polyamides, de plastifiants d’ester et d’inhibiteurs de corrosion. Il est utile pour diminuer l’élasticité des polymères, et dans les surfactants de synthèse et les composés de finition des métaux. Il agit comme intermédiaire pendant le catabolisme de la lysine chez les mammifères.
Solubilité
Soluble dans l’eau, l’alcool, le benzène et le chloroforme. Légèrement soluble dans l’éther de pétrole.
