Hexamethylbenzene is used as pharmaceutical intermediates, in organic synthesis of compounds, as a solvent for He-NMR spectroscopy. Used as a ligand in organometallic chemistry. Reaction with dimethyldioxirane, gives the major product, an unusual oxepane triepoxide.

Applications
L’hexaméthylbenzène est utilisé comme intermédiaire pharmaceutique, dans la synthèse organique de composés, comme solvant pour la spectroscopie He-RMN. Utilisé comme ligand en chimie organométallique. La réaction avec le diméthyldioxirane donne comme produit principal un triépoxyde d’oxepane inhabituel.

Solubilité
Insoluble dans l’eau.

Incompatible avec le nitrométhane, les agents oxydants forts.
