L-(-)-Malic acid is used as a food additive, Selective α-amino protecting reagent for amino acid derivatives. Versatile synthon for the preparation of chiral compounds including κ-opioid receptor agonists, 1α,25-dihydroxyvitamin D3 analogue, and phoslactomycin B.

Applications
L’acide malique L-(-)- est utilisé comme additif alimentaire, sélectif α-amino réactif protecteur pour les dérivés d’acides aminés. Synthon polyvalent pour la préparation de composés chiraux y compris les agonistes des récepteurs des opioïdes κ 1, α ; ,25-analogue de la dihydroxyvitamine D 3 et la phoslactomycine B.
