L-tryptophan is an essential amino acid which is necessary for normal growth in infants and for nitrogen balance in adults. It acts as a natural dietary supplement and used as an antidepressant, anxiolytic and sleep aid. It is used as a precursor to niacin, indole alkaloids and serotonin. It acts as an important intrinsic fluorescent probe, which finds to estimate the nature of microenvironment of the tryptophan.

Applications
Le L-tryptophane est un acide aminé essentiel, requis pour assurer une croissance normale au nourrisson et un équilibre du bilan azoté chez l’adulte. Il agit comme un supplément alimentaire naturel et est utilisé comme antidépresseur, anxiolytique et somnifère. Il est utilisé comme précurseur de la niacine, des alcaloïdes indoles et de la sérotonine. Il agit comme une sonde fluorescente intrinsèque importante, permettant d’estimer la nature du microenvironnement du tryptophane.

Solubilité
Soluble dans l’eau, l’ammoniac, l’alcool chaud, les hydroxydes alcalins et les acides dilués. Légèrement soluble dans l’acide acétique et l’éthanol. Insoluble dans le chloroforme et l’éther éthylique.

Remarques
Incompatible avec les acides forts et les agents oxydants forts.
