Methyl phenylsulfonylacetate has been used in a key step during the synthesis of (-)-hybridalactone, marine eicosanoid isolated from the red alga Laurencia hybrida, in dehydrative alkylation of alcohols under modified Mitsunobu conditions followed by desulfonylation using magnesium, in three step synthesis of 2-(hydroxymethyl)indene.

Applications
Le phénylsulfonylacétate de méthyle a été utilisé à une étape clé lors de la synthèse de (-)-hybridalactone, de eicosanoïde marin isolé de l’algue rouge Laurencia hybrida, dans l’alkylation avec déhydratation des alcools dans une réaction de Mitsunobu modifiée, suivie de la désulfonylation en utilisant le magnésium, dans la synthèse en trois étapes du 2-(hydroxyméthyl)indène.
