Phenyl isothiocyanate acts as a derivatizing reagent for primary and secondary amines. It is used in sequencing peptides by Edman degradation and in amino acid analyses by HPLC. It is used for derivatizing N-terminal amino acids of proteins for automated sequential analysis. It is a synthon for dithiadiazafulvalenes.

Applications
L’isothiocyanate de phényle est un réactif de dérivatisation pour les amines primaires et secondaires. Il est utilisé dans le séquençage des peptides par dégradation d’Edman et dans l’analyse des acides aminés par HPLC. Il permet la dérivatisation des acides aminés N-terminaux des protéines pour l’analyse séquentielle automatisée. C’est un synthon pour les dithiadiazafulvalènes.

Solubilité
Soluble dans l’alcool et l’éther. Insoluble dans l’eau.

Sensible à l’humidité. Protéger de l’humidité et de l’eau. Entreposer sous gaz inerte sec, à l’abri de l’humidité et des agents oxydants. Conserver à 4°C.
