Terephthalaldehyde is used as an intermediate for the preparation of dyes and fluorescent whitening agents. It is used in the synthesis of polyimines by reacting with aliphatic diamines. It is used as a precursor for the preparation of paramagnetic microporous polymeric organic frameworks (POFs) through copolymerization with pyrrole, indole, and carbazole.

Applications
Le téréphtalaldéhyde est utilisé comme intermédiaire pour la préparation de colorants et d‘agents de blanchiment fluorescents. Il est utilisé dans la synthèse des polyimines en réagissant avec les diamines aliphatiques. Il est utilisé comme précurseur pour la préparation de cadres organiques polymériques microporeux paramagnétiques (POF) par copolymérisation avec le pyrrole, l‘indole et le carbazole.

Solubilité
