tert-Butyl nitrite is employed as a reagent for diazotization and nitrosation of alcohols, thiols, amines and cycloalkanes. It plays an important role in photocatalyzed conversion of aryl and heteroarylamines to selenides. It finds application in the preparation of aryl azides from aryl amines. It is also useful for radical multifunctionalization reactions of aliphatic alkenes and source of nitric oxide.

Applications
Le nitrite de tert-butyle est utilisé comme réactif pour la diazotisation et la nitrosation d’alcools, de thiols, d’amines et de cycloalcanes. Il joue un rôle important dans la conversion photocatalysée des aryls et des hétéroarylamines en sélénides. Il est utilisé dans la préparation d’aryl azides à partir d’amines aryl. Il est également utile pour les réactions multifonctionnelles radicales des alcènes aliphatiques et de la source d’oxyde nitrique.

Solubilité
Miscible à l’éther diéthylique, au chloroforme, à l’alcool et au disulfure de carbone. Légèrement miscible avec de l’eau. Immiscible au glycérol.

Remarques
Sensible à la lumière. Stockez-le dans un endroit frais. Incompatible avec les agents réducteurs puissants, les métaux en poudre et les acides forts.
