Tetraethylene glycol is used as a solvent to dissolve water-insoluble compounds. It is employed as a nitrocellulose solvent, a plasticizer, a natural gas desiccant, a hydraulic fluid and in lacquers and coatings. Furthermore, it is used in the synthesis of tetraethylene glycol methacrylate monomer. It acts as a chemical intermediate and acts as a solvent for the manufacturing of inks and dyes. In addition, it serves as a coupling agent in the production of textile lubricants and formulations.

Le tétraéthylène-glycol est utilisé comme solvant pour dissoudre les composés insolubles dans l’eau. Il est utilisé comme solvant de nitrocellulose, plastifiant, desséchant de gaz naturel, liquide hydraulique, laques et revêtements. De plus, il est utilisé dans la synthèse du monomère de méthacrylate de tétraéthylène-glycol. Il agit comme intermédiaire chimique et comme solvant pour la fabrication d’encres et de colorants. En outre, il sert d’agent de couplage dans la production de lubrifiants et de formulations textiles.
Solubilité
Miscible à l’eau, à l’éthanol, à l’acétone, à l’acide acétique, à la glycérine, à la pyridine, aux aldéhydes, au tétrachlorure de carbone et à l’éther diéthylique. Non miscible à l’huile, au benzène, au toluène, aux graisses et aux hydrocarbures aliphatiques.
