Esters derived from trans-4-methoxycinnamic acid are effective absorbers of UV radiation. The starting material was trans-4-methoxycinnamic acid and 3,5dimethoxybenzoic acid methyl ester in isolated avenanthramide alkaloids synthsis. trans-4-Methoxycinnamic acid was converted into its acid chloride (yield 98%) with thionyl chloride. Employed in organic synthesis of pharmaceutical intermediates, synthetic anti-adrenergic drugs esmolol, cosmetics ultraviolet absorption.

Applications
Les esters dérivés de l’acide trans-4-méthoxycinnamique absorbent efficacement les rayons UV. Le matériau de départ était l’acide trans-4-méthoxycinnamique et l’ester méthylique de l’acide 3,5-diméthoxybenzoïque dans la synthèse des alcaloïdes de l’avenanthramide isolés. L’acide trans-4-méthoxycinnamique a été transformé en chlorure d’acide (98 % de rendement) avec du chlorure de thionyle. Utilisé dans la synthèse organique des intermédiaires pharmaceutiques, les médicaments anti-adrénergiques synthétiques esmolol, l’absorption des rayons ultraviolets des produits cosmétiques.

Solubilité
Soluble dans l’éthanol, l’acétate d’éthyle et d’autres solvants organiques.
