3-Methylsalicylic acid was used in the synthesis of 8-methyl-2-thioxo-2,3-dihydro-4H-1,3-benzoxazin-4-one, 7-hydroxy-8-methyl-2-thioxo-2,3-dihydro-4H-1,3-benzoxazin-4-one, (R)-, (S)- and (RS)-hydroxymethylmexiletine.

Applications
