D-(-)-Lactic acid is a useful biochemical for proteomics research. It is also used in the production of chiral drug and in the chemical synthesis. Lactic acid is used as a reagent in organic synthesis (in the manufacture of adhesives). It is used in the leather, textile, and tanning industries. It may be used as a plasticizer, a catalyst, or an acidifying agent. Lactic acid has even been used as a flavoring agent in the manufacture of tobacco products.

L’acide d-(-)-lactique est une substance biochimique utile pour la recherche en protéomique. Il est également utilisé dans la production de médicaments chiraux et dans la synthèse chimique. L’acide lactique est utilisé comme réactif pour la synthèse organique (dans la fabrication d’adhésifs). Il est utilisé dans les industries du cuir, du textile et du tannage. Il peut être utilisé comme plastifiant, catalyseur ou agent acidifiant. L’acide lactique a même été utilisé comme agent aromatisant dans la fabrication de produits à base de tabac.
