It is used as a small molecule IMPDH inhibitor. mycophenolic Acid is used as an immunosuppressive agent with antiviral and antitumor effects. It potently inhibits inosine monophosphate dehydrogenase, thus inhibiting de novo GTP synthesis leading to decreased RNA and DNA synthesis. It also reversibly inhibits proliferation of T and B lymphocytes and antibody formation.

Applications
Il est utilisé comme inhibiteur de l’IMPDH. L’acide mycophénolique est utilisé comme agent immunosuppresseur grâce à ses effets antiviraux et antitumoraux. Il inhibe fortement l’inosine monophosphate déshydrogénase, inhibant ainsi la synthèse du novo du GTP. Cela conduit à une diminution de la synthèse de l’ARN et de l’ADN. Il inhibe également de façon réversible la prolifération des lymphocytes T et B et la formation d’anticorps.
