Tetraethyl Orthocarbonate is used in the synthesis of chemokine receptor-5 inhibitors against HIV-1, benzobisoxazoles and in the preparation of organic semiconductors. It is also employed in the synthesis of 2,7-dimethylene-1,4,6,9-tetraoxaspiro[4,4]nonane and in the synthesis of cross linked poly(orthocarbonate)s used as organic solvent absorbent.

Applications
L’orthocarbonate de tétraéthyle est utilisé dans la synthèse d’inhibiteurs des récepteurs-5 de chimiokine contre le VIH-1, les benzobisoxazoles et dans la préparation de semi-conducteurs organiques. Il est également utilisé dans la synthèse de 2,7-diméthylène-1,4,6,9-tétraoxaspiro[4,4]nonane et dans la synthèse de poly(orthocarbonate)s réticulés utilisés comme absorbants de solvants organiques.

Solubilité
Insoluble dans l’eau. Le contact avec l’eau libère un alcool inflammable. Soluble dans le chloroforme et le méthanol.

Remarques
Sensible à l’humidité. Conserver à l’abri des oxydants. Gardez le récipient bien fermé et placez-le dans un endroit frais, sec et bien ventilé. Tenir à l’écart des sources d’inflammation. Conserver sous atmosphère inerte et réfrigérée.
