Description
β-Estradiol is the major estrogen secreted by the premenopausal ovary. It acts as an estrogenic hormone receptor (ER) agonist and activator of PI 3-kinase. Further, it is used in the treatment of infertility in women, prostate cancer and breast cancer. It is also employed as an agent of stimulating female puberty induction, as in the treatment of delayed puberty caused by hypogonadism or Turner's syndrome. In addition to this, it is used as part of the hormone replacement therapy for transgender women.

Le β-estradiol est le principal œstrogène sécrété par l’ovaire préménopausique. Il agit en tant qu’agoniste des récepteurs des hormones œstrogènes (ER) et activateur de la PI 3-kinase. De plus, il est utilisé dans le traitement de l’infertilité chez les femmes, du cancer de la prostate et du cancer du sein. Il est également utilisé comme agent de stimulation de l’induction de la puberté féminine, comme dans le traitement des retards de puberté provoqués par l’hypogonadisme ou le syndrome de Turner′. En outre, il est utilisé dans le cadre du traitement hormonal substitutif pour les femmes transgenres.
Solubilité
Soluble dans le DMSO, l’éthanol, l’eau, une solution saline tamponnée au phosphate, le DMF, l’acétone, le dioxane et les hydroxydes alcalins. Légèrement soluble dans les huiles végétales.
