- PI4K2A (PI4K2 alpha) lipid kinase, or phosphatidylinositol 4-kinase type 2 alpha, is involved in the formation of phosphatidylinositolpolyphosphates (PtdInsPs)
- PI4K2A phosphorylates PtdIns at the D-4 position which is an essential step in the biosynthesis of PtdInsPs
- It is a novel regulator of tumor growth by its action on angiogenesis and HIF-1alpha regulation
- PI4K2A generates PtdIns4P-rich domains within the Golgi which regulate targeting of clathrin adaptor AP-1 complexes
- PI4K2A is also required for Wnt to regulate LRP6 phosphorylation
